Lymm

A reasonably early start as we wanted to get to Preston Brook tunnel by eight o’clock. Entry into the tunnel is timed. Northbound from on the hour to 10 past, and southbound from half past to twenty to. So had we arrived after 8:10 we would have had to wait. As it was we got there about 7:50 so had to wait 10 mins anyway!

The Bridgewater canal has suprised us. It’s much more attractive than we remember from our last visit 13 years ago. We arrived in Lymm around 1 o’clock for lunch. After lunch a trip to the town resulted in Heddi buying some stuff in a charity shop and me getting a haircut. The Sainsbury Local didn’t have all the groceries we needed so a walk to outside the town was taken to the bigger Sainsburys. But that didn’t have much more, so a stop in Sale tomorrow is planned.

Just by chance we saw an information board about the ‘Lymm Heritage Trail’ a three and a half walk around the town taking in the ‘Dam’ ( actually a lake) and part of the Trans Pennine Trail. So we did this to walk off our supper.
