We arrived about 11 o’clock. Rachel the owner had previously texted to say we could chose any pitch.

There was a caravan in number two, so we chose number 5 as it was on the end so we wouldn’t get a neighbour on one side. After settling in we had an early lunch and set off on a walk to the river Wye.

The walk was through woods and down a very steep and stoney track. We weren’t sure that it was the correct track, but we did eventually reach the Wye at Redbrook.

There is an old disused railway bridge that is used as a foot bridge here, so we crossed and called in at the pub for a cider. The walk back seemed easier than going even though it was up hill.

A pre-made chilli for supper. Overnight was very cold. I had set the warm air heater to come on at 10 but it was coming on too often and waking us up, so I changed it to 8 but it still came on fairly frequently! The grass was white with frost in the morning.

5th April

Another morning walk in the same general direction as yesterday, but round in a large loop. Starting off along a track to a farm, then back via woods and fields. It was really warm in the lovely sunshine. It was very spring like, with newborn lams and wild daffodils.

The afternoon walk started in the village, up a stoney track and back through fields.
