Devon – Flying visit

We are here at Little Roadway campsite near Woolacombe for a couple of nights, with Nikki, Paul and their girls.

For my 70th birthday they bought me a flying experience; hang gliding!

We arrived on Friday with Bertie and our tent. We put the tent up for them to sleep in. They arrived later than expected due to traffic, but we had already lit the barbecue, so a great evening ensued with eating, drinking and nattering.

Saturday morning we were given a rendezvous point to meet Sam, the pilot at 9:30. Due to the wind conditions Sam decided we would go paragliding rather than hang gliding After a fairly laid back chat and safety briefing Sam was strapping me into the harness, then we were off. It was wonderful, absolutely magical. We went back and forth along the cliff edge to catch the thermals and rising air currents. It was the closest to being a bird that I can think of.
