September 18th Phillistone Farm
A trip to Aldi in Porthcawl first to top up the larder. Then a very pleasant walk around Porthcawl’s harbour and seafront. Onward the to the Gower, to the north coast where we haven’t been before.
On arrival Catherine met us and gave us lots of useful information. We had lunch then off for a long walk along the huge empty beach.

We went looking for the “Blue Pool” we had been told about. We had actually gone slightly too far when three women showed us where it was, and two of them jumped in and had a swim about.
The next day we decided to walk to Rhosilli via the coast path and then back along the beach. We knew that the beach route was only possible at low tide so set off to arrive there at the appropriate time. However the walk took longer than expected so we didnt have long in Rhosilli before we had to head back. There was just time to eat our sandwiches and buy an ice cream.
We walked quickly for the first couple of miles to make sure we got to the narrowest part before the tide came it, but in fact we had plenty of time. The whole walk was about twelve miles.

A well earned rest at the campsite with a cider was called for when we got back.
In the evening there was a magnificent sunset.

On the way home the next day we called round at Port Eynon and Mumbles.
September 17th Dunraven & Ogmore
We tried to get in the lower car park at Dunraven, but it was full. So back up the hill to the upper one. The day was spent walking and relaxing in the lovely sunshine read books etc.

At about 6 o’clock we drove a miles or so along the road to The Watermill, where we (& Bertie) were made most welcome. So evening meal was taken in the pub.
