We went for a stroll around the town in the evening and found a boulangerie to visit the next morning for bread & croissants. We checked the opening hours 6:30am – 12:00, so we planned to cycle up before breakfast.
That night we had a terriffic thunderstorm with constant thunder and lightning. The next morning was a little grey and overcast, but still warm. We cycled into town. The boulangerie was shut! What we hadn’t seen the night before was a sign saying “Mardi – fermé”. Then we saw someone carrying some bagettes. We went off in the direction they had come from and found another boulangerie, so beakfast was saved!
Some views of Chatillon-en Bazois
The canal below Chatillon follows the river closely including all the tight meanders. As this was the middle day of the holiday we turned around after lunch. We topped up with water at a canalside snackbar and were charged at the rate of 2 euros/100 litres. No free BW water points here!
Back to Chatillon for the night, we moored near the chateau again.
