Another early morning start to get back to the marina. A cold wind blew all day, so even though the sun came out it was a day of wearing many layers. We met many more boats today than previous days, but when we got to Middlewich locks we were all on our own. The marina

Bunbury
Together the Dawn Treader we set off up the staircase just before eight o’clock. We were following a hire boat, but they stopped by Tesco’s. At Hoole Lane lock there appeared to be a bit of confusion. Some C&RT guys were repairing the coping stones at the edge of the cut. They had a working
Chester
A day spent walking the old city walls and enjoying the delights of Chester. In the evening we had a really good meal in the “Fiesta Havana” a tapas restaurant in town.
Chester
We awoke to a cold, frosty, foggy morning. We could hardly see more than about a hundred yards. We carried on through the fog, round Barbridge junction and on through the Bunbury staircase. Oakwood Marina
The trip back to the marina was less pleasant. The weather wasn’t too bad until we got to Wincham, then it just poured down. Sue and Tom stayed inside while we steered and got wet!
Lymm
We set off in time to be at Preston Brook tunnel by nine as northbound boats go on the hour. Then a pleasant cruise along the Bridgewater canal in warm sunshine to reach Lymm by lunchtime. After lunch a stroll around the town to find somewhere for tonight’s meal. We settled on a restaraunt called
Dutton Horse Bridge
To show our guests more of the river Weaver we went upstream to just before Winsford, winded and then headed back to Northwich. Just as we were approaching the floating pontoon mooring by the cinema another boat pulled away leaving just enough space for us. After lunch we took a quick wander round the shops
