Home mooring

Back to Kidderminster, then Paul, Nikki & Izzy left at about 9:30 as Nikki had a ‘Hen Party Day’ at “Go Ape” in the Forest of Dean. We decided to stay for the rest of the day and go back tomorrow. We spent the time doing jobs around the boat, popping down to the caravan

Wolverley Court Lock

The best day weatherwise so far this trip. As we didnt need to be back in Kidderminster until Sunday morning today was going to be a relaxing day. We went down as far as Kinver and stopped on the visitor’s mooring below the lock. We were lucky, there was only room left for one boat.

Below Greensforge Lock

Up and away early, the sky was lovely and clear so we thought that we’d get going. Through the stop lock at Autherley and round the junction to see a heron perched on the signpost. We stopped at Compton to go to the Daisy freezer centre for some barbecue food, and to Limekiln Chandlers for

Brewood

Another rather wet, cold & grey day, where’s the summer gone? The weather did clear a little in the evening and we decided to have a barbecue as this may be the only chance this week. During yesterday and today we have had several re-occurrances of the fuel starvation problem. I decided to take out

Above Greensforge Lock

Daughter Nikki, son-in-law Paul and grandaughter Izzy (10 months) arrived last night, did the shopping and stayed overnight on the moorings. We joined them about 10 o’clock and set off north. The weather was rather overcast with occasional rain. We stoped for the night at about 5:00 just past Greensforge lock. We had planned a

Wolverley

Just an overnight trip with the grandchildren Josh & Becca to make up for the weekend in January when we couldn’t go anywhere because of the frozen canal. We arrived about 10:30 and plodded slowly up to the Lea Lane winding hole, turned and came back to Wolverley to moor just above the lock. The

Just a day trip

Just up for the day with friends David & Veronica. They live in South Africa and are over in the UK for the summer. David is interested in narrowboats and is considering one for their UK base, so we thought that a little taster by way of a day trip would be a good idea.

Roundhill Wharf

A late start around nine o’clock as we didnt have far to go. We stopped at Wolverley for breakfast and then went for a walk from Wolverley Forge bridge, across the river and some fields & woods to come out on “The Shortyard”. From there down through the village and out along the footpath that

Kinver

The original idea for today was to cruise up to Aldersley junction, turn and then call in at Limekiln Chandlery in Compton for diesel, a bottle of gas and a pumpout. First thing in the morning the red light for the holding tank came on to indicate that it was full. This meant we definately

Top of Bratch Locks

A lazy start today, we had a cup of tea in bed at eight and didnt get going until just gone nine. The weather was grey and overcast with occasional drizzle on and off all day. We were hoping for a barbeque tonight and had planned on stopping at the picnic site at the bottom
