Withnell Fold visitors mooring

An early start as we needed to get to Wigan on Monday. First the 20+ mile pound before the locks in Blackburn. We were quickly through Burnley. You would expect good views from the embankment but that’s not the case.

There are a few swing bridges along this section, but they didn’t cause any problems. We made a quick stop at tne Aldi by bridge 105A to stock up tne food cupboard.

Luckily tne was a C&RT volunteer on the Blackburn locks so we were through in just over a hour. He recommended Riley Green moorings. When we got there, there was room, but we decided to press on. The visitors mooring at Withnell Fold was empty, so we stopped here.

After supper we walked down to the top of Johnson’s Hillock locks to see if they were padlocked. They weren’t, so we can make an early start tomorrow.
