As soon as the bridge keepers came on duty we chugged up to Llanthony pontoon to do a pumpout. We then had to wait until 9:15 for Llanthony bridge, but we were soon in the lock and off up the river.

It wasn’t good weatherwise. Not raining but cold and windy all the way. A fairly uneventful trip until just before Diglis locks. Then an engine alarm came on, a high pitched whistle.

A light on the console indicated a coolant temperature problem. I had noticed the temperature creeping up it didnt look too bad.

We moored up by the racecourse. After letting the engine cool down a bit I got down there to investigate. At first I thought that the sensor was faulty, but then I noticed the coolant level was a bit low. So I mixed up some antifreeze and topped up. That sorted the problem.
