Early in the morning I reversed back to the junction, then reversed up the Springs branch to Pennine Cruisers to get a pumpout. The guy there said they were too busy with the day boats and come back later after 10:30.

So we all piled into Andrew’s car and drove up to Bank Newton to see the damaged lock for ourselves. There wasn’t much to see. A CRT guy there said that if we were a hire boat he’d let us through, but otherwise the canal is closed! So we drove back to Skipton.

I took tne boat over to the boatyard, had the pumpout and then back over the other side again.

The afternoon was spent walking in Castle Woods.
