Carr House Bridge

7.5 miles, 10 locks

The weather forecast for today was heavy rain until mid afternoon. So initially we decided to stay put until the rain eased off. But by about 9:30 the sky was clearing and the rain had stopped, so we set off.

The weather forecast was wrong – no more rain all day.

At Meaford locks there was a short queue (the first this trip!) and several boats coming up, but we were soon through. We then followed the same boats through Trentham lock, but they stopped in Stone so the last couple of locks we had no queue. A short stop at the M&S below Star lock then on our way again to stop for the night near Carr House bridge. As we moored up we noticed that the other boat there was our old share boat “Symphony”, what a coincedence.
