Hawford locks

Another 7:30 start and, having turned all the locks again, arrived at Sainsbury’s in Kidderminster to do a bit of shopping.

We had been following two Black Prince boats who were the most competent. So we thought that it would take a while to get through the staircases, but they both stopped on the services and we overtook them.

Another boat coming up the first staircase meant that Heddi had to cross over in the middle bit, but she managed it with ease.

The trip down the river was uneventful, but hot! The Hawford locks were in our favour, but I struggled with the heavy gates and was exhausted by the time we eventually moored up.

We took a walk along the Severn way to the weir for Bevere lock. A group of teenagers were jumping off the bridge into the river. Well the boys were, presumably to impress the girls!
