With Karen & Simon on board we set off from home at about 12:40. We expected to get to the marina between three and half past, but due to traffic problems on the M5 and M6 it was almost 4:15 when we arrived. So we unpacked the car and loaded it all onto the boat

A lovely bright sunny day today. We had booked our passage through Dutton and Saltersford locks for 11:00 and 12:00 respectively. We arrived at Dutton just after 10 o’clock so moored up and had a cup of tea while waiting. The CRT guys turned up about 10:40 and locked us through. We met them again
We are moored on the river Weaver after a really great days boating. The wildlife here is abundant with ducks, swans, geese, great crested grebes, little grebes, cormorants, kingfishers, coots, moorhens & herons. All this and trip down the amazing Anderton boat lift.

A much warmer day today. When the sun came out it was very pleasant. Quite a few more boats about than yesterday. We met one at almost every lock. We followed an Australian couple on a Black Prince hire boat up through the Stone and Meaford locks, but they then stopped at Barlaston. Near Barlaston
