Bottom of Bratch

We’ve moved at last! Due to stoppages, ice and time commitments we hadn’t moved since the 1st of November. We arrived last night at around 5:30. The solar panel had done it’s job and the battery was topped up. I lit the fire, we had a glass of wine a meal and watched a DVD

Iced in

We arrived yesterday lunchtime for a quick visit. I wanted to finish off wiring the solar panel in properly, and replace the inline water filter which had split due to the frost. We were pleased to see that the solar panel had been working OK, the battery was not fully charged, but much better that

Break ins

This morning we were talking to the people on “Dancing Lady”. They told us about the break in to “Mandarin”. Mandarin is the boat moored next to us, we had noticed one of the windows boarded up and covered in polythene. It seems that someone smashed the glass to get in. They only took food

Installing Solar Panel

We arrived yesterday evening just after 6:00pm. Only unloaded the basic stuff as it was too dark to see. At least it wasn’t  freezing and there’s no snow & ice to slip on. The battery was flat again, so had to run the engine for a couple of hours. Had a meal, a glass of

We arrived last night at about 6 o’clock. It was very cold onboard. The heater had flattened the battery, as I had expected the frost stat had stuck again. We ran the engine, started the Eberspascher, lit the fire and had a warming beef stew that we had brought with us. The evening was spent

Dry dock days 6 & 7

The Epimastic needs at least 48 hours from the final coat before immersion, so we have no more painting to do. On Saturday we drove down to Bristol to see Heddi’s dad in hospital. Then back again in the evening. On Sunday we went for a walk around Hartlebury Common then, in the afternoon, moved

Dry dock days 3 & 4

Working with a whole tin in one session meant that we were taking nearly the whole 4 hours workable time to complete the task. So we decided to only mix half a can at a time and to the second coat in two goes, one per day. So on Wednesday we did just one side

Dry dock day 2

Today we put the first coat on one side and part of the other side. We are using a two part epoxy product called “Epimastic”. The two parts have to be mixed before use, then there is about 4 hours of working time before it begins to set. This means that we cant stop until
